Alix Baker

Alix Baker is a painter of landscapes, urban, marine, figurative etc in several media. Specialist subjects include military paintings, Oman and the Arabian Gulf.

Alix has two sides to her art - ‘civilian’ and military. On the civilian side: paintings are done in a variety of styles and media. The subject matter tends to dictate which medium is used. One of her specialties is paintings of Oman and the Arabian Gulf.

On the military side: Alix has worked for very many years on official commissions, for museums, and for collectors worldwide. She has written, painted and done graphic work for many specialist publications. Some of the world’s top model soldier makers have used her work for reference. Several web sites are illustrated by her pictures - not always with her consent!

She is a regular exhibitor at the Mall Galleries’ exhibitions and the Chelsea Art Society.

Alix is also a judge at exhibitions and has been the subject of study by A level and GCSE students. Her paintings have appeared as ‘props’ in television dramas and in a West End play. She was honoured to be the first non-serving, non-uniformed and first woman to be elected Chairman of the Armed Forces Art Society.
